It's a good thing that deer is already dead, otherwise you might be in trouble!

It's a nice gun, but maybe it's just the Canadian in me that doesn't allow me to understand the fascination with owning weapons you can't use for anything. I guess you can take them to the firing range, but to me it's about practicality so if I'm going to invest money in something I better be able to shoot a duck, deer, or turkey with it... legally, lol. It is very nice still though, and it would be fun to shoot. How much did it cost if you don't mind my asking, or just give an estimate range.

Well, we forgive you for being Canadian. Altogether, I've got about $1,500 in it. The ammunition is what's really expensive. A box of Federal is more or less .45 per shot. AR-15's have plenty of functionality to them - that's why so many Americans own one. I own two, actually. That's also why the military has used the M16 and variations for so many years, now. She fires a 5.56/.223 Remington - that's a rifle cartridge, range of about 600 yards depending on the barrel - so yes, you can kill a deer with it. Farmers love them because they're small enough to strap onto a saddle or four-wheeler - and they're perfect for killing wolves and coyotes and anything like that, that preys on livestock. It's primary design, of course, is to kill humans - - - making a carbine a good firearm for home defense. I don't know how Canadians are supposed to defend themselves against the bad guys - but down South, if you kick in my door, I've every right to protect and defend my property and my family by using lethal force.

they all suck when you have to carry them all day everyday... we only get the M60 red dot sights in the Army, and a PEQ2/4 for nightvision purposes. My military issued has a M203 grenade launcher attatched to it, wish my phone would let me upload pictures... COLT is where it's at
